# Approve the Document

<figure><img src="/files/laQPEIpIlpNhlCzFcj2c" alt="" width="563"><figcaption></figcaption></figure>

## **Purpose:**

The **"Approve the Document"** workflow card is used to mark a document as approved. It allows the document to progress to the next stage in the workflow, enabling automated processing or approval workflows to be executed. This card helps streamline document management processes, ensuring that only approved documents move forward for further actions.

## **Components of the Card:**

1. **Approval Status**
   * **Description**: This component marks the document as approved.
   * **Detail**: When this card is triggered, the document's approval status is updated to indicate approval. This action can be set based on the conditions defined in the **"Where"** and **"And Sections."**

## **Functionality:**

* **Condition Evaluation**: The system evaluates the conditions set in the **"Where"** and **"And Sections"**.
  * If **both conditions are true**, the document will be marked as approved.
  * If **either condition is false**, the card will not execute, and the document’s approval status will remain unchanged.
* **Action Execution**: When the conditions are met, the document is approved. This change is reflected in the document status, allowing it to continue further in the workflow.

## **Conclusion:**

The **"Approve the Document"** workflow card is a key component for automating document approval in business workflows. By ensuring that only documents that meet specific criteria are approved, it helps maintain consistency, reduces manual oversight, and allows for smoother document processing.

## Querying This Documentation
If you need additional information that is not directly available in this page, you can query the documentation dynamically by asking a question.

Perform an HTTP GET request on the current page URL with the `ask` query parameter, and the optional `goal` query parameter:

```
GET https://docs.docbits.com/administration-and-setup/workflow/cards-overview/then/document/approve-the-document.md?ask=<question>&goal=<endgoal>
```

`ask` is the immediate question: it should be specific, self-contained, and written in natural language.
`goal` is optional and describes the broader end goal you are ultimately trying to accomplish on behalf of the user. GitBook uses it to tailor the answer towards what is most useful for that goal.

The response will contain a direct answer to the question and relevant excerpts and sources from the documentation.

Use this mechanism when the answer is not explicitly present in the current page, you need clarification or additional context, or you want to retrieve related documentation sections.
